 Onsite Auditing service provides a detailed security assessment of the design and configuration of key perimeter systems in order to identify any security weaknesses that may exist. The service can range from the examination of a single server to a full audit of all systems on the network perimeter, according to customer requirements. As the audit is performed onsite and with full system access, the service identifies issues that cannot be found through remote testing alone.
The need of audit
Whilst a vulnerability scan or penetration test can reveal how secure a network is from the perspective of a remote unauthorised user, it is limited in its depth and scope by the filtering imposed by the firewall and router. It is therefore useful to supplement such activity with a more thorough audit from the position of having full onsite access to examine and review the system configuration, network topology and security procedures that are in place.
This allows for the overall level of security to be improved so that if the firewall is breached, a flood strikes or data is corrupted, the network will be more resilient, data and system configurations can be more easily recovered and logging procedures will help the attack to be traced. |
