Stego Suite (Discovering the Hidden)

In the last decade, the technology for digitally manipulating image, video and audio data has advanced tremendously, resulting in the ability to rapidly hide information in binary data files. Numerous web sites offer “stego” programs free for the downloading. The potential for industrial espionage, trade secret theft, cyber weapon exchange and criminal coordination are boundless.
Many government and commercial organizations are greatly concerned and have sought tools to identify the use of digital steganography in its many forms.
Stego Suite is such a tool that identifies the presence of steganography without prior knowledge of the steganography algorithm that might have been used against the target file. Known as “blind steganography detection, this capability is exclusive to Stego Suite.

Applicability

Post mortem analysis of data recovered from a digital crime scene can be a tedious process. When the digital data contains thousands of images, audio files, or digital video that may contain other hidden evidence, the process can be impossible without the aid of key technologies and expertise. Stego Suite's tools provide the ability to quickly examine and evaluate digital image and/or audio data for the presence of hidden information or communications.

Active Web Scanning of a web site to ensure that unauthorized persons are not using the site to exchange innocuous looking messages or smuggle proprietary data is also becoming a must. The tools of Stego Suite baseline a web domain and continuously scan the domain for the presence of hidden data inside digital images.

Stego Watch - Steganography tool

Stego Analyst - State-of-the-art image and audio file analyzer

Stego Suite is available as both an outsourced monitoring/scanning service as well as a stand-alone software package comprised of the three applications. The service option is convenient for customers wishing to leave the administration of the program in the hands of our expert staff. The software package is for those customers who choose to make the steganography detection function internal to their system.

The Stego Suite package combines proven state-of-the-art steganography detection technologies and unique analytic expertise, executed within the security of a trusted laboratory environment, whereas the standalone software allows for full control of detection procedures. In either case the result is a detailed report documenting the analysis, including both the direct and derived results of the chosen detection algorithms.

Stego Watch

Stego Watch allows users to detect digital steganography, or the presence of communications hidden in digital image or audio files.

Stego Analyst

Stego Analyst is a full featured imaging tool allowing investigators to also search for visual clues that steganography has in fact been utilized in both image and audio files. Stego Analyst incorporates seamlessly into Stego Watch, allowing the selection of individual suspect images to be visually examined. It is often these visual clues that assist the investigator in confirming Stego Watch’s suspicions of embedded steganography.
In addition to visual clues, Stego Analyst gives users the ability to examine characteristics such as color palettes, hue, intensity, used colors and their red-green-blue (RGB) values.

Stego Break

Stego Break is an application designed to obtain the passphrase that has been used on a file found to contain steganography. Currently Stego Break can crack passphrases for JP Hide ‘n Seek, F5, JSteg and Camouflage steganography embedding applications.
